I’m supposed to be writing a paper on how economic growth became fundamental to modern economic and political thought.  However, reading Bill McKibben got me thinking about the amazing communities I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of, and then I started thinking about my dear friend Kass who nurtures community more than anyone I know (who’s our age, at least), and then I started thinking about Glacier where we met…and somehow I ended up going through pictures from the previous two summers there and finding photos of interesting geologic features.

And, if anything, the scale of geologic time and the sheer enormity of Glacier helped to put things in perspective and calm some of my apprehensions for the future.
